Eye Witnesses/Family

How could the BBC make a documentary without including even one "questioning" survivor, eye witness or relative of a victim ?

The "Jersey Girls" - is the nickname given to four wives and mothers of victims of 911.
Pressure from them and survivors like William Rodriguez was largely responsible for the setting up of the 911 Commission.
They condemned its findings as a "whitewash".

A few months before the 911 Commission released its report, Thomas Kean (Chair of 911 Commission) said that the Jersey Girls "call me all the time. They monitor us, follow our progress, they've provided us with some of the best questions we've asked. I doubt very much if we would be in existence without them."

William Rodriguez was the last man out alive from the twin towers. After the 9/11 attacks, he helped co-ordinate the efforts of survivors' and victims' families, lobbying the US Government to hold an enquiry into what had really occurred on that fateful day. When he came to give evidence to the commission he was one of the few witnesses be heard behind closed doors.

Decorated five times by the White House for his bravery in rescuing survivors, he became so celebrated as an all American hero that President Bush wanted him to run for a safe Republican seat in Congress. He refused and now travels the world to tell people of the explosions he experienced whilst in the towers, starting before the first plane hit and continuing till the collapse. He too condemns the 911 Commission Report as a whitewash.

Mysteries of September 11

One of the greatest mysteries of September 11, 2001 is the total disintergration of the Twin Towers and Building 7. Claims that explosions contributed to the collapses were made on 9/11 and have persisted, but studies supportive of the U.S. government’s account of events have ignored or denied these claims. If there were explosions, they would be relevant to the disintergration of the physical structure of the buildings and then the official al Qaeda narrative may need to be radically altered or abandoned altogether.

As of November 2008 a search of You Tube using the key words “Eye Witness 911” or “Eye Witness World Trade Center” will find many and varied short video accounts taken from the broadcast media on the day. [YouTube]

118 Witnesses:
The Firefighters’ Testimony to Explosions in the Twin Towers

According to Jim Dwyer of the New York Times, the FDNY oral histories were “originally gathered on the order of Thomas Von Essen, the city fire commissioner on Sept. 11, who said he wanted to preserve those accounts before they became reshaped by a collective memory.”

The oral histories constitute about 12,000 pages of testimony by 503 FDNY firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics collected from early October, 2001 to late January, 2002.

FDNY Oral Histories (Believed complete 530) These are important documents and make for interesting reading.

Professor Graeme MacQueen, McMaster University, Ontario, Canada has made a detailed study of the oral evidence given by New York firefighters.

Professor MacQueen does not claim to have proved that the Towers were brought down with explosives, but believes the eyewitness testimony strengthens the argument that explosions were critical to the collapses.

MacQueen has focused only on those witnesses (118) clearly stating they heard or saw “explosions”. A pdf file can be downloaded at http://www.journalof911studies.com/
The index system is poor but if you execute a FIND search using the key words “118 Witnesses” you will locate the file on the home page among 50 or so articles and reports.

Example extracts below.

EMS Captain Karin Deshore: “Somewhere around the middle of the World Trade Center, there was this orange and red flash coming out. Initially it was just one flash. Then this flash just kept popping all the way around the building and that building had started to explode.

The popping sound, and with each popping sound it was initially an orange and then a red flash came out of the building and then it would just go all around the building on both sides as far as I could see.

These popping sounds and the explosions were getting bigger, going both up and down and then all around the building. I went inside… and I said I think we have another major
explosion. [City of New York] 11/7/2001]

Daniel Rivera “It was a frigging noise. At first I thought it was -- do you ever see professional demolition where they set the charges on certain floors and then you hear ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop’?” [Oral Histories]
